There’s a faster, simpler way for government IT departments to move workloads to the cloud. CDT’s Off-Premise Cloud Services program clears the everyday procurement obstacles that stand between a state agency and a cloud migration.

For an individual agency, standing up its own cloud contract means RFPs, selection, award, and negotiations, a runway that can stretch from six months to a year. Agencies rarely have that kind of time. When one California state agency needed to rehome an Oracle database-based application from a data center that was shutting down, a traditional procurement cycle wasn’t an option.

Through CDT’s Off-Premise Cloud Services program, any state agency can procure cloud services through a simple request and approval process. The program is an integrated, competitively bid contract that simplifies procurement, onboarding, billing, and invoicing, and gives agencies access to aggregated spend and pre-negotiated rates. All contracts under the program are awarded at the FedRAMP moderate or higher compliance level.

As the contract holder for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Mythics builds each new customer’s compartment structure, creates the compartment administrator, and assigns that role to the agency’s first power user. From there, agencies can engage Mythics for additional cloud services to support onboarding and migration, with project-level support delivered through the Mythics cloud services delivery program. Mythics also works alongside CDT solution engineers to provide accurate consumption estimates and cost controls, including programmatic alerts and automation.

• Migrating in weeks, not months. The agency entered the CDT program through a simple request, approval, and onboarding process and was migrating into Oracle Cloud within a couple of weeks, avoiding the six-to-twelve-month runway of its own procurement.
• Fewer resources, reduced costs. The move to a highly automated Oracle database required fewer resources and lowered costs.
• Consumption-based billing. Billing began only after the service was provisioned, covering only services consumed, billed monthly in arrears.
